_m_k_s_c_s_i_p_r installs a printer with a SCSI interface for use with the System
V printer spooling system.
_m_k_s_c_s_i_p_r is an interactive installation program that will display
available options and prompt for the relevant installation parameters.
Unlike printers with parallel or serial interfaces, SCSI interface
printers must be connected to the workstation and powered on before the
workstation is powered on. In addition, SCSI devices should never be
disconnected from the workstation or powered off while the workstation is
on.
You must be root to execute _m_k_s_c_s_i_p_r. The program first asks for the name
you wish to give the SCSI printer. This name must be no more than
fourteen characters. See lpadmin(1M) for more information on naming
printers. After entering a name for the printer, the program will display
a list of SCSI printers that were detected on the system by a poll of the
SCSI bus. Enter the controller and unit numbers for the printer you wish
to install. If a printer is already installed for a controller/unit, the
name of the printer will be displayed in the list. If printers are
detected on different interfaces (e.g. vme-scsi and scsi) you will be
asked to specify the interface before specifying the controller and unit
number.
Once a controller and unit number (and possibly an interface) have been
selected for the printer, a list of printer types will be displayed.
Enter the number of the printer type you wish to install.
The printer will be installed and the current printing environment will
be displayed (i.e. lpstat -t).
